My Home Town

Another beautiful day in Ohio, I do think spring has arrived and it is wonderful after the very bitter cold winter we had. We have moved down the road to our little summer place at the lake. Our condo is only 2 miles away and will be available for family and friends to stay in at night. The summer place only has one bedroom so I am sure the condo will be very handy during the summer months.

I found this picture and fell in love with the children on the beach. I would love to find clothes like this and take pictures of my grandchildren. If I found the clothes I know a lot of grandparents who would love the pictures. If any one out there in blog land knows of a shop who may carry vintage clothes, please let me know.
We have been at the summer place during the summer for nine years and I feel at home here. I have Lake Erie in the front yard and a beach on the side yard. My grandchildren grew up here and it is a fun place to be. Port Clinton is a resort area in the summer and a ghost town in the winter. Many of the business close down during the winter months. Port Clinton is an hour away from Toledo and an hour away from Cleveland Ohio. We have Cedar Point amusement park and many island get a ways in the area. I will take pictures of the area in another post. It is so neat to share the area where you live with blogging friends. I feel like I have traveled all over the world through some of the blogs I have read. We can share the home we live in and the town where we walk.

This is a picture of Marble Head light house that is in the area, a nice place to visit and sit a while. The tree's are now just starting to bud and the flowers are blooming......so spring has arrived in Port Clinton Ohio. I will be sure to take my camera along with me so I can show you the area where I live. My Mother and a look a like.................

A few weeks ago I put this picture I found on a post and said that it so reminded me of a picture of my mother that I have siting in my living room. I wanted to put the picture of my mother and the picture of the lady with presents and a tree together . It may just be me but the lady with the gifts sure looks like my mother's picture. They say every one has a look a like and this lady looks just like my mother...Ada Amelia


I always thought my mother looked like a movie star in her picture. I would love to put a Victorian out fit on and pose like the queen of vintage......what fun that would be. I have memories of my mother saying..........Sharon why do you like all of this old stuff and the vintage look? I would say.......mother I do not know where I got the love of Victorian,but I know it was not from you. I no not where this love came from but it is all me and I so love it. My I sound like a Victorian queen with that mumbo jumbo. Have a wonderful day my dear........

You Light Up My Life............

The lights that show me the way. I have two lights like this on my fireplace. I love the look of soft light coming from a Victorian looking lamp.

When evening comes I look forward tot urning on my lamps, some only have small Christmas light bulbs. It gives just enough light to see.








In the dining area I have a stained glass lamp over the table. It has one up lamp that I can turn on by its self. Can be used as a night light.















This little lamp sits on a small desk also in the dining area. Do you have special lights that also light up your life?

So Sow..........Christmas In April............?

There is still a cold chill in the air, I am tired of spending so much time in side while waiting for the sun to shine and the breeze to warm up out side. I am thinking Christmas in April. I have made a decision that this is the year that I will make all of my Christmas gifts. I have wanted to do this for many years......and this is the year. So(sow) this year I will do..........
I have to find craft projects that I can do in the evening while watching TV. I am not a talented person when it comes to sowing but I can learn. My first project will be making these darling little jackets made our of a sweatshirt, then adding the sailboat or snowman. I can do this.........yes I can????? I think it would be fun to share ideas for home made gifts for birthday or holiday gifts........in April???
Yes because I do need to start in April and do not want to wait until November and then say ( I wish I would have started this project months ago. So if there is any one out there in our blogging group who would like to share ideas about home made gifts please do so. I do not know how to make one of the cute little badges that some put on there post when they want to share an idea...............so if any one out there would like to join in ....my( Christmas in April ) idea and knows how to make a cute little badge please do so.

I Remember When...........Now Underdtand Why.......

My Mother..Ada Amelia


I now sit in my lovely country home, which I call Amelia Rose Cottage. I sit and think why did I want the cottage look. Then I reflected on my life , and the wonderful memories of growing up at Silver Lake in Michigan. My parents had a small cottage at the lake, it was small but held many family members and friends. I learned how to drive on the roads that led to Devils Lake where we danced at the pavilion and roller skated the evenings away. I grew up there and now understand I want to again have the feel of living in a cottage.
One of my favorite flowers are roses, I also like daisy's and geraniums, but the beauty of a rose stands out as a favorite.
I am sure I have shared with you that my mother's middle name was Amelia, she was named after her Aunt Amelia. When Tammy had a little girl she named her Lindsey and wanted her middle name to be Amelia, named after my mothers middle name. Of course I was delighted with the choice of Lindsey Amelia's name.

The sun room is finished, the curtains are hung, all we have to do is wait for the sun shine and warm weather to enjoy the new little cottage at the lake. Memories have been transformed in to the here and now at Amelia Rose Cottage

I can not believe how many wonderful people I have met through blogging. I use to look at books for decorating ideas and new ideas for preparing something different for dinner. Now all I have to do is turn on the computer and visit my blogging friends to find so many wonderful ideas.


It was a very cold Easter Sunday in Ohio and I did not have thee Easter egg hunt out side. We had snow and very cold winds so I am going to think Spring with a capital S...

Happy Easter & A Happy Birthday To Amy

I want to wish every one a happy and blessed Easter day and a beautiful spring season.
I thought a week or so ago that I was ready to settle down and start living a normal life and do all
the fun things I like to do.........wrong..................

I have been so busy just finishing up all the little jobs that were still left to do. I thought I could get the small jobs finished in a day. Well that day turned in to a week and now I am
so ready to settle down. I am so happy to be home and able to spend Easter with my family and my little ones. It is my daughter Amy's birthday today the 7Th of April. We will celebrate her birthday and Easter on Sunday. I will take pictures tomorrow of the birthday girl and my grandchildren to share with all.
I sure miss the blogging scene and promise to be back.......miss every one's blogs.....I think it is something that two years ago I did not really know what a blog was for sure, and now it a daily part of my life......starting Monday...........

WELCOME TO AMELIA ROSE COTTAGE

Happy first full day of spring, I have missed blogging and reading all of my favorite post. It has been a long three months but I am settled in Amelia Rose Cottage. Welcome To Amelia Rose Cottage

It has been so long since I have had the time to blog or to read all of my favorite blogs. Tomorrow I will be back to normal and have time to visit all of my friends. Here are a few pictures of Amelia Rose Cottage. I have many more to post but today is Charlies birthday and the first day of spring. We will go in to town and have dinner with my daughters and grandchildren.

All Most Home.

After much time and work we are all most home. Thought I would post a quick up date on the big move. Tomorrow the new furniture I ordered for the living room will arive. The new doors will be put in this weekend. And then we will start the decorating process which I am so ready for. We bought a condo that is 19 years old and we updated it through and through. By update I mean all new.......everything.

When I think about it I now have all new which I want to look old.......I will end up with a wonderful new....old cottage. If you are new to my blog you will wonder what I am talking about...if you have been a regular you know what I am talking about......This is the view I will wake up to each morning.

I sure do miss my visits to all my favorite blogs and can not wait to be settled and back to normal. I will post pictures of my country cottage condo real soon........And the name of my country cottage will be.......Amelia Rose Cottage.

My mothers middle name was Amelia, I have a grand daughter who also has the same middle name Amelia named after my mother. And I had a grate aunt Amelia who my mother was named after.....so after much thought I desided on Amelia Rose. In memory of my mother and in honer of Lindsey Amelia my little sweet heart.

Tammy from Among Friends will help me change my blog name to Amelia Rose Cottage when I move in. She changed her name with out changing her blog and will help me do the same. So soon I will have a new home and a new blog name. I just have so much to do.... I miss all and will be back real soon with pictures. Have a wonderful week and be safe.............Sharon K
